About Geckistry
Geckistry is my breeding and genetics research program for crested geckos and Leachianus geckos, based in Tyler, Texas. Every animal in my collection is tracked, documented, and backed by real data. Not morph guesses. Not sticky notes. Actual records.
How It Started
I didn't plan on becoming a gecko breeder. I just wanted to build cool terrariums.
Then I brought home my first crested gecko from a local Texas expo, and that was it. The personalities. The sticky toes. The wildly complex genetics. I was hooked.
I'm Dusty. I grew up showing dogs in ABKC and UKC, and I've been around animals my entire life. I've owned, bred, and raised a variety of animals over the years, always with the same standard: health first, records second, excuses never.
What started as a hobby turned into a full breeding and research program. I wanted to meaningfully contribute to the genetic knowledge base for crested geckos and leachies, so I started tracking everything: pairings, outcomes, genetics, structure. If there's data to log, I'm logging it.
I also build software. That's not a side note. It's the reason this program works the way it does. I built ReptiDex, a breeding records app for keepers, and the genetics engine behind Geckistry runs on the same foundation. That combination of breeding experience and software engineering is what separates this from a hobby with a website. More on that at Built By Dusty.
What I Do
Breed Geckos with Data
Every pairing is planned. Every clutch is tracked. Every hatchling is evaluated for structure, health, and morph accuracy before it goes anywhere. I breed crested geckos and Leachianus geckos on-site in Texas and ship nationwide.
Document Everything
Every gecko leaves with real genetic information: parent morphs, allele data, and documented lineage. Not a guess. Not a sticky note. Actual records you can use if you decide to breed.
Support After the Sale
Questions about care, feeding, shedding, or genetics? I answer. Not a call center. Not a chatbot. The person who hatched your gecko. That support doesn't expire.
Share What I Learn
The Genetics Library is free and open. 30+ alleles, 18+ combo morphs, inheritance patterns, visual identification tips. I built it because this information should be accessible, not gatekept. Need help identifying a morph? The Morph Identifier is free too.
Breeding Standards
Every breeding animal in my program meets these requirements. No exceptions.
- Structurally sound per Gold Standard Gecko Club guidelines
- Minimum weight met before entering the breeding program
- Health screened and feeding consistently
- Adequate rest between breeding cycles
- Proper housing, temperature, and humidity at all times
- Full genetic tracking for every pairing
I do not breed animals with structural defects, health concerns, or poor body condition. The animal's health comes before any pairing outcome. Period.

If you're looking for a gecko backed by real data from a breeder who actually answers the phone, you're in the right place.
Geckistry was designed and built by Built By Dusty, a software studio building tools for breeders and the animal industry. The same person who breeds the geckos also writes the code. That's the point.
