AI-Powered Morph Identification

Crested Gecko Morph Identifier

Not sure what morph your crested gecko is? Upload a photo and let the AI do the work. This model was trained on thousands of labeled crested gecko images following the Geckistry genetics library research. It covers 30 alleles, 17 characteristics, and 19 combo morphs. No account required. Just upload a clear photo and get your predictions.

How It Works

1

Upload a clear photo of your crested gecko. Good lighting and a full body shot give the best results.

2

The AI model analyzes your image against thousands of labeled training photos from the Geckistry genetics database.

3

Get predictions with confidence scores for each detected allele, characteristic, and combo morph.

Good Lighting

Use natural light or well-lit photos for best results

Clear View

Capture the gecko from above or side for clear pattern visibility

Common Crested Gecko Morphs

The model is trained on labeled images I collected and categorized following the Geckistry genetics library research. It currently covers 65 traits across three categories. Here's what it can detect:

Alleles (30 traits)

Strong detection: Harlequin (1,051 images), Pinstripe (1,045), Black Base (1,011), Dalmatian (805), Yellow Base (631), Orange Pattern (459), Phantom (438), Red Base (407)

Also included: Snowflake, Tiger, Flame, Cappuccino, Tangerine, Hypo, Patternless, Axanthic, Sable, Lilly White, and more

Combo Morphs (19 traits)

Strong detection: Tri-Color (841 images), Quadstripe (278), Lavender (229), Halloween (41)

Also included: Bicolor, Blonde, Creamsicle, Frappuccino, and more. Some combos like Pink and Phantom Pinstripe are in the database but still need more training images.

Characteristics (17 traits)

Portholes (364 images), Brindle (187), Olive (19), and more. Several characteristics like Blush, Fringe, and Headstamp are in the database but waiting on more training data.

Still Growing

I'm building the training dataset every day. The model is strongest on common morphs like Harlequin, Pinstripe, and Black Base. Rarer traits with fewer labeled images are still improving. Results can take up to a minute depending on load.

For the full breakdown of every trait and how they interact, see the Genetics Library.

Why Accurate Morph Identification Matters

Knowing your gecko's actual genetic traits (not just a pet store morph label) matters for three reasons.

Buying

If someone sells you a "Lavender," you should know that's Black Base + Hypo, not a standalone gene. That affects what the gecko can produce if you ever breed it.

Breeding

Accurate trait identification is the starting point for safe, intentional pairings. Some combinations (like Lilly White x Lilly White) are lethal. You need to know what you have before you pair it.

Value

A gecko labeled with accurate genetic information is worth more than one with a vague morph name. Documented genetics build buyer confidence.
